Deaf Transcription Service

The visitor traffic on websites that feature video and audio has increased fourfold, but many of these websites are not accessible to the hearing impaired, because no captions or sub-titles have been added to the content that features on these websites. It is estimated that nearly two hundred thousand people that are hearing impaired access the net everyday, and for them text transcripts of the audio or captions in a video is something that they would be looking forward to.

There was this incident about a hearing impaired person named Michael who was keen on setting up a website that was oriented towards internet marketing, after searching many pages he came across a tutorial on a website that explained steps for setting up a profitable Internet marketing website, but the tutorial was through a podcast and these were available on a pay-and use download. Assuming that text content would be available, the podcast was downloaded, but it contained only MP3 files and no text transcripts were included.

Search Engines cache audio/video transcriptions

We all know that search engines for the cache memory only crawl on text content of a website. If text transcripts are available on the website, the search engines will index them and in the process the website traffic gets a boost. The transcript in a website that has video/audio features increases the value of the pages as landing pages for the visitors. It has a potential to draw a better and meaningful traffic on the website. The audio transcription and video captioning are important elements of multimedia resources. These should be considered as standalone content on a website, and time and attention spent on adding these features add value to a website.
