Problems Faced By Physicians While Outsourcing Their Medical Reports

In terms of medical transcription, instead of the health care institution providing in-house transcription, they outsource this function to a 3rd party company. This way, they can focus on more important stuff related to health care and need not bother with other things such as medical transcription. Outsourcing of medical transcription also has some negative impacts.

Medical reports outsourcing for transcription can be a threat to security and confidentiality. The physicians are forced to carefully select the process and the provider for outsourcing. It is more difficult to manage outside service providers than managing ones own employees working possibly in the same building.

Although outsourcing most of the times is cost-effective at times the hidden costs involved in signing a contract while signing a contract across international boundaries may pose a serious threat. If the turn around time is missed or delayed, the physicians dont and cant have the managerial control.

A possible loss of flexibility in reacting to changing business conditions, lack of internal and external customer focus and shari
ng cost savings may also be a disadvantage of outsourcing. Other disadvantages of outsourcing the medical reports for transcription may include unfavorable contract lengths, loss of competitive edge, problems in contract renewal, and contractual misunderstandings.
